This tune is like one of those story songs of a platonic fling. Sam Cook-Parrott came up with the title, then I wrote a song around it.

Her band came through on tour
Backstage we took some boomers
As they spread vicious rumors
All across town like wild fires
We left the show, we were too tired
Went to the park where we first met
Hand in hand on the swingset
Then we hotboxed her honda

We had made that promise
